Tioga & George
2008 Trip Plan

December, 2008:
On December 1st we are a bit north of Puerto Vallarta. We plan to continue traveling south looking for nice Camps. When we find a nice Camp, MsTioga may stay for awhile enjoying the place. Our major goal is to stay in T-shirt and short pants weather.

As we traveled south of Puerto Vallarta, Mr. Datastorm was unable to go online. We had moved outside of the foot print of the satellite that we are using. So, we made a trip northeast going thru the City of Tepic.

We are now back in the Pueblo of Aticama. We had made a Camp here a few weeks ago and love this place. It is likely that we will stay here for awhile.

Miles traveled: 549

November, 2008:
MsTioga is in Tepic in order to remove the leaking dash heater core. Our Ford dealer is located in Tepic. Winter is approaching, so it should be cool enough now near the coast. After the heater core is removed, we will be moving our Camp to the coast.

It is not clear if we will head north or south along the coast. Who knows? It is a mystery.

At month-end, the north/south mystery was resolved. We are heading south and found ourselves at Punta Mita [north of Puerto Vallarta] at month's end.

Miles traveled: 325

October, 2008:
I am in Jerez, Zacatecas at the beginning of the month. The elevation is 6,600 feet. There are signs of winter coming on, with temperatures in the early morning in the 50s°F. So, MsTioga and The Team are heading toward warmer Camps and the western coast of Mexico.

Note: As we traveled lower in elevation, the temperature climbed to the mid 80s°F. I decided slow my plan to descend to the coast and remained in the Town of Jalpa for a couple of weeks.

Also, I'm trying to reduce my expenditures because of the uncertainty of the current worldwide financial crisis. Traveling less means buying less gasoline.

Miles traveled: 453

September, 2008:
Our journey begins this month a bit south of the City of Guadalajara at the Laguna Cajititlán. The plan is to continue heading north from here, staying in the Sierras in order to be at the right elevation where temperature and humidity are comfortable.

Our daily miles traveled shall likely reduce in order to match our income from Google's AdSense.

Google has informed me that:
"As much as you may not want to hear it, the fact is that your decrease in AdSense earnings seems to be related to recent enhancements to our targeting algorithms, and shifts in advertiser spending campaigns."

Earning less from our AdSense program is not such a terrible thing. Even with earning 1/2 of former ad income, we are able to make additions to our savings account each month.

Note: A decision was made to fly back to our home base in Concord, California on September 20th. The trip lasted 12 days and I returned to MsTioga on October 2nd.

Miles traveled: 383

August, 2008:
We ended July in the Town of Tamazulapan in the State of Oaxaca. Our location is in the Sierra Madre range, only a small distance west of the Continental Divide. We are on a plateau, 6,600 feet in elevation.

At this height, temperatures are in the 70s°F. Low humidity. Perfect weather! Staying here is an option. However as you may know, we on the TiogaRV Team are addicted to traveling!

When we leave Tamazulapan, our plan is to head south to the Pacific Ocean. Then, continue north.

Note:
We changed our Pacific Ocean plans. Our Datastorm internet system began malfunctioning because we had gone too far south. Outside of the satellite footprint. We turned back north in order to keep on the internet.

Miles traveled: 897

July, 2008:
When I returned to Mexico, I found MsTioga in good shape. I picked up Boid where he had been vacationing at the home of Kathe and Jamie. Then headed westerly across the Yucatan Peninsula.

It is warm and very humid in the Yucatan. The temperature is not too bothersome for me. However the humidity is something else.

When I picked up Boid at Kathe's palapa, she suggested that I head for Puebla in the Sierra Madre range. It is high there, and I am thinking that the humidity will be much less.

June, 2008:
Cousin Jacky and I toured Israel together during June. I had intended to continue to stay in Israel after Jacky left at mid-June. However, Israel had turned out to be much smaller than I had envisioned. So, I returned to the USA on the same day that Jacky left Israel.

My flight from Israel took me to Los Angeles where I rented a car. Then I went north visiting my Uncle Seymour and Aunt Shirley in Santa Barbara. Then continuing north to Santa Cruz, where I visited with my son Joe.

I returned to my homebase of Concord, and stayed at my son David's home for several days. Then, anxious to be back with MsTioga, I returned to Mexico.

May, 2008:
During the last week of April, I flew out of Mexico to Florida where I will spend a few days picking up stuff needed while I am in Israel.

During the month of May, I will be searching for adventure in the City of Jerusalem.

At the end of May, I will joined in Israel by my Cousin Jacky. Together we will be taking tours to see much of the rest of Israel.

April, 2008:
We are still quite far away from Yucatan. We are about 350 miles from the State of Quintana Roo, where we will meet Reader Kathe.

Then north to Yucatan, and meet our reader friends Jonna and Mimi who are building a home in Merida.

At the end of April, we are making a HUGE change of direction in our travels. We will be going to another country, the State of Israel!

March, 2008:
March began with MsTioga and The Team about 60 miles away from the famous City of Acapulco. During March, we plan to explore the ancient sites in the State of Oaxaca.

As March ends, we should be in the State of Yucatan! [Well, we almost are in Yucatan!]

Miles traveled: 1,209

February, 2008:
In the last week of January, MsTioga and The Team had reached the City of Tepic, in the State of Nayarít. During February, we will head for the huge City of Guadalajara. Then to León in the State of Guanajuato.

Our plan in León is to visit with the Mauricio González family who live here. We met Mauricio's family on our visit to Copper Canyon.

Back in the 1970s, I worked in a manufacturing plant in Los Angeles. One day a man from the City of San Francisco del Rincón [near León] got a job at this plant. He soon brought perhaps a 100 friends from his town who became employees too.

I plan to visit San Francisco del Rincón to see if I am able to find any of these men there. I last was in this town in 1972.

Later in the month, Señorita Tioga has been thinking about heading south toward Zihuatanejo. That's where the movie, "Shawshank Redemption" ended!

Miles traveled: 886

January, 2008:
When we first got to thinking about searching for adventure on the Mainland of Mexico, we thought that it would be a GIANT journey just to get to the City of Guaymas. However, by the end of December, 2007, we found ourselves already south of the City of Obregón in the State of Sonora.

How deep into Mexico will we go?
