Saturday, September 09, 2006: 7AM - Concord Community Park. The Team is Morning Camped in Concord Park. It is a lovely sunshiny day. A little later this morning, we will go over to son David's home to watch the semifinals of the U.S. Tennis Open on the giant TV.
8AM - News about Rancho Boca del Salado. This morning we received an email from a reader friend who lives in Baja California del Sur near the Gumaro Gonzalez Rancho Boca del Salado. You may remember that The Team stayed on the rancho during part of the winter during the past two years. That is where we met our friend, Michel the photographer.
Here is that email in part: The eye came ashore about where Los Frailes is. Everything South of Vinorama up to about Los Barilles got ripped by 120+ mph wind. Old trees got blown over or shredded. Lots of damage, solar panels, palapa roofs, windows blown out, etc.
Gumaro's family is fine, they have things pretty tied down there, but I'm sure they suffered some damage just like everyone else. Your parking spot was a rushing river and still has water runnning.
Further North, Mulege really got slammed by rain, the river overflowed it's banks and I heard that a few people died.
Notes: Los Frailles is several miles north of Rancho Boca del Salado. Vinorama is several miles south of the Rancho. The Town of Los Barrilles is 60 miles north of the Rancho.
10PM - Nite Camped at son David's home. Actually, MsTioga is just around the corner from son David's home in the most level place in the neighborhood.
After watching the U.S. Open Tennis women's final where the glamorous Maria Sharapova won the championship, we went out for supper! This has been a very nice day.
